Frequently Asked Questions:

-----------------

Q: What is a professional organizer?

A: Professional organizers provide information, products and assistance to help others organize in order to meet their needs. A professional organizer should guide, encourage and educate clients about basic principles of organizing by offering support, focus and direction.

-----------------

Q: What can a professional organizer do for me?

A: A professional organizer can provide ideas, information, structure, solutions, and systems, which can increase productivity, reduce stress, and create a new-found freedom and sense of being in control.

-----------------

Q: My clutter is out of control and I am feeling embarrassed to allow anyone to assist me because I am afraid of being judged. How can a professional help me?

A: The key word is “professional.” A professional organizer would never judge you, your habits or the condition of your space.

-----------------

Q: Will a professional organizer make me throw out all my stuff?

A: A professional organizer is a consultant who will ask questions, make observations and suggestions to help you decide what is or is not important to you. Ultimately you, the client, are the decision maker.

-----------------

Q: What are the reasons for being organized?

A: Being organized will:

  • Increase personal effectiveness
  • Reduce clutter-related stress
  • Provide you with more precious time
  • Prevent duplication in storage
  • Provide you with more space for lifestyle-related items
  • Provide a less hazardous environment
  • Reduce demands on time, space and energy

-----------------

Q: I’ve always been disorganized, is there really anything you can do for me?

A: Being organized is a skill, not a mysterious talent. Like any other skill, it is possible to learn the basic principles and formulas of organizing. However, in order to experience long-lasting, life-changing results, a professional organizer can teach you how to maintain your systems on a regular basis, and assist and encourage you in practicing the skills until they become habits.

-----------------

Q: How long will it take to get me organized?

A: Each organizing project is different. Length of project will depend primarily on the size of your home or office, the amount of clutter and/or paper that has built up, and how quickly you can make decisions. An Order Matters organizer will give you an estimate of the total time involved in a specific project.

-----------------

Q: Does the professional organizer do the work or does he/she tell me how to do it?

A: This is a personal decision based on your needs and budget. While some clients prefer working alongside their organizers, others just need direction and/or an action plan to get them started.

-----------------

Q: How much does a professional organizer charge?

A: An Order Matters consultant will visit your space and conduct a needs assessment survey. The needs assessment is free and will provide you with an estimate of the cost of your project. In addition, we can tailor the work (and, therefore, the cost) depending on how much you will be able to do on your own between sessions.

-----------------

Q: Will my sessions with a professional organizer and my personal or business information be confidential?

A: Our organizers are aware of the high level of trust placed in us by our clients. Integrity, honesty, and confidentiality are guiding principles of our work.
